The Lord is Our Protector

One night while reading my girls a bedtime story, I smelled this odd smell coming through the vents. It reminded me of a gas smell similar to what our grill smells like when you first turn it on. I told my husband and he checked our propane tank outside and then came back in. He started smelling it too. He went to check our furnace room and when he opened the door, the smell was very strong it made his eyes burn. We both felt headaches coming on and felt something was wrong. Instead of putting our girls to bed as planned, we brought them out to the car while I called the emergency maintenance explaining everything.  A maintenance person came over within 10 minutes and started investigating. He didn’t really smell anything. I prayed quietly for him to be made aware of any problems and for him to check everything thoroughly. He brought in a gas testing and a carbon monoxide detector. At first he was not picking up anything but he was diligent and tested it again.  Sure enough, his carbon monoxide detector started showing elevated readings and was climbing every time the heat was on.

Long story short, the Gas Exchange went out in our furnace and every time it kicked in, it was throwing Carbon Monoxide in the air. The fire department was called and the Battalion Chief was confused on how we knew since the gas readings were ZERO and as everyone knows, Carbon Monoxide is odorless.  He said the effects we were having with the headaches was unheard of since while the levels were elevated, they were not to the point where they would have affected us….yet.  I hate to think if we had ignored the warning and just went to sleep.

I know that God made us aware of it by giving it a smell and showing us what was wrong.  Going to bed with Carbon Monoxide in the air can be deadly.  This is just one of many examples of how God has moved in our lives and protected our family.  I found if you put your trust in Him and His Word (no matter who you are), He will place a protected covering over you and your family that can only be described as supernatural.

I know there are many skeptics but all I can say is what I know to be true in our lives.

I am so thankful!!! God is Good!!

Delivered from Alcohol

“I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior in 1978.  The changes that have occurred are beyond measure and continuing each day.  One event in my walk with Christ was being delivered from Alcohol, which in the business world, was very dificult because of the social implications.  But the Lord not only delivered me from the desire but also the peer pressure of not worrying about hte threat of losing favor with clients.  The Lord has more than provided and continues every day.  For He is faithful always at all times.”

God is Faithful

When I woke up on a Saturday morning, I had no idea I would be int he ER with my 2 year old two hours later.  My youngest was lying on the floor pretending to sleep after I told her it was nap time.  I went over and she held her hand out so I could help her up.  I grabbed on to her hands like many times before so she could jump to her feet.  However, instead of jumping to her feet, she must of realized that she didn’t want to nap and while I was pulling her up she threw herself back and twisted to the side and started screaming.  I heard a pop in her wrist and I picked her up and got some ice and we prayed over it like always.  She was not calming down like she normally does after a minor bump or fall.  I was renouncing fear because of course all these thoughts flooded my head – Did she break it?  Fracture it?  She was screaming hysterically.  I rushed out the door to the ER just to make sure.

We got in quickly and was waiting in the room when the doctor came in.  He looked at her wrist and said it was not broken or fractured but that it had been displaced at the elbow (Nursemaid’s Elbow which is common with kids under 4) and it would be have to be popped back in and she would be good to go.  My heart and stomach dropped at the thought of her having to go through that pain.

The doctor left the room to get snacks to try and distract her.  Just then, my husband called and we prayed together on the phone.  He had me renounce fear and reminded me that God has her covered.  We took authority over the situation.

Within minutes after we hung up, she calmed down and she looked at me with big eyes and gasped with a surprised look while holding up her arm.  She said, “Look Mommy!  All better!”

The doctor came back ready to put her elbow back in place and when he saw her, he was surprised.  He checked her out and said they usually always have to do it but she must have done it herself so she can go because she looks fine.

She didn’t do it!  God did!  She has had no problems since.  The Lord is always faithful.  I am so appreciative of my wonderful husband for his reassurace and prayer backup to stand on what God already said!  When two or more on earth agree on anything, it will be established!
