Love is a Commandment

The distinguishing mark of Christians is the love we have for others. When we love our brothers and sisters, we demonstrate the true character of God. Love is unconditional. It is choosing to see someone the way God sees them regardless of your personal feelings, treating them with respect.  God sees every person as His children whom he loves that are lost and in need of a savior.

It is especially important to remember this as we are in such a divided time in our country with the election coming up. We all have the right to our own opinions, but God’s opinion and His Word should be the final say in how we vote.  Even when we are dealing with those against us, we still have to see them as God does, love them and pray for them. We should not stoop to their level with name calling and disrespect.

This of course does not mean that you back down on your stance or God’s Word, but it does mean that you treat ALL people with respect and see them through God’s eyes.  Remember that Jesus loved the very people that crucified Him. He died for them just as much as He died for you. By showing them the Love that God showed you, you will be opening up a door for them to come to know Jesus which is most important.

1 John 3:14

“We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.”

Declaration of Faith

My character represents God, therefore I choose to walk in love in every situation. I love my brothers and sisters regardless of how they are towards me. I choose to live my daily life imitating God and showing unconditional love towards others.

Faith Speaks Faith

Your faith resonates clearly through every word you speak. What you say is the real demonstration of what you believe. Do you have the voice of faith or the voice of doubt and unbelief?

What is in your heart is what comes out of your mouth. (Matt 12:34) Have you ever caught yourself getting excited by a healing promise of God or receiving prayer for healing just to mumble something similar to, “I hope it works.  I am always sick,” before you even hit the parking lot?

What happened? You thought you believed God’s promise, and you were happy to receive prayer. The truth is, deep down in your heart, you still have doubt. You want to believe God, you want to feel better but you are not completely convinced that God can change anything.

Our words are a good indicator of our faith level. How do we raise our faith level and replace those words of doubt and unbelief? The bible says that faith come by hearing the Word of God (Rom 10:17). So by studying God’s Word and listening to it (even if it is reading it out loud to ourselves), we will fill our hearts with God’s promises and truth leaving no room for anything else. This is so important, especially since we are bombarded everyday with words and messages that try and overtake our faith.

Don’t be discouraged, everyone struggles at some point, and it is just a matter to getting back up and grabbing onto God’s Word tenaciously.  The truth that we KNOW is true.  Stand strong, stay in the Word and your faith and your faith produced words can and will move mountains!

2 Corinthians 4:13

“It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak”

Declaration of Faith

My faith in God resonates clearly through every word I speak. I am in agreement with the Lord and His Word and my voice and actions reflect that. I choose to put down any doubt and unbelief and to stand up in faith declaring God’s Word over my life.

Spiritual Awareness

“The enemy will not see you vanish into God’s company without an effort to reclaim you.” Quote

One of the most dangerous lies that a Christian can believe is that there is no devil. The word is clear when it says that Satan goes around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1Peter 5:8).  If you’ve received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you have been transferred from darkness to light. Many new Christians enter thinking that life will be a piece of cake now and then come to realize that they are attacked with a number of circumstances. It is not a coincidence. The devil does not want to lose you and is terrified of the day that you would really get a revelation of who you are in Christ because then it is all over for him.

God is much bigger and we have already been given the victory if we fight the fight of faith. But it is hard to fight what you don’t believe in.

As we approach Halloween, it is good example how many brush off spiritual things and choose to believe that fear, evil spirits, and scary monsters are just innocent fun when in reality, the demonic realm is very real. It is not to be afraid but aware and get to know the word of God. Jesus has given us an umbrella of protection and that umbrella is His Word. If we follow it and stay under it, then we are protected but if we are stepping out of it or entertaining things that God abhors then it opens the door for the enemy to enter your life and household.

I don’t want that and I am sure you don’t either! Stand on the Word of God and use the Authority you’ve been given against the devil. It doesn’t mean he won’t try to affect you but you can send him fleeing every time.

Declaration of Faith

I am not ignorant of the enemy’s devices. I stand firm in God’s promises, knowing that he always brings me out of even the most difficult of circumstances in victory. I will not stand down, give up or settle for anything less than God’s best in every area of my life.

1 Corinthians 16:13

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith;be men of courage; be strong.”

1 Peter 5:8

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Stay Connected

With our busy lifestyles and To Do Lists, it is easy to forget the glue that holds us together…God!  Prayer and time in the Word really are essential in making our days go a lot smoother.  Many have a constant habit of staying connected either by religiously checking email or updating facebook with their every move.  We need to stay connected to God with the same effort, by squeezing in some Word time at every opportunity or by pausing for a moment to pray.

The Lord has made His Grace, Mercy and Protection available for us to download at anytime.  Stay connected to God throughout your day and you will definitely see a difference!

Psalm 23:3

“He restoreth my soul: He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Route Fear Out

When fear tries to invade your mind, allow the peace that only comes from God’s Word to envelope your thinking and strengthen your spirit.  There are so many things happening around us pulling at our attention, including thoughts and fears of tomorrow.  Hearing the news alone is enough to make anyone stop and think about their future.

God never meant us to live in fear but the Lord has given us peace and security with His Word.  If you know Jesus as your Savior, you can be confident of your future.  It doesn’t mean you will not go through trials, challenges and even sometimes loss.  But one thing you can be certain of is God always works things out for good for those who love Him and are called to His purpose.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.”

Take ahold of this scripture and don’t let go of it.  Focus on the Word when you are starting to sense fear coming on.  Fear is just a lie from the devil to get you to doubt God’s Word and we have been given authority over it!  The Bible says that every knee must bow to the name of Jesus and that includes fear.  So don’t hesitate to stand up to fear and say “Fear!  Get out of here!  In Jesus Name!”  Whose report will you believe?  I choose to believe the report of the Lord…

Declaration of Faith

“In the name of Jesus, I declare that I am in covenant with God. I have the peace of God; therefore, I am whole in every area. There is nothing missing or broken in my life. I am empowered by God to succeed in everything that I do. I am prosperous and equipped to fulfill His perfect will for my life!”

Take off the Old

You have to take off your old mindset to put on a new one. It is the renewed mind that directs your life on a new course.  When you recieve Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you get a new Spirit but you still have the same mind, will and emotions.  You put on a new mindset by renewing your mind with the Word of God, and by meditating on the His precepts.  A renewed mindset will direct you on the road to victory!

Ephesians 4:22-24

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds, and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

“I have stripped myself of my former nature, which is being destroyed because of its evil desires, in order that I may be renewed in the disposition of my mind. I have put on my new nature, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore, I cast all falsehood from me and speak only truth. I will not allow myself to taint the body of Christ by being anything other than He is.”

Matter of the Heart

Whether good or bad, everything in life begins in your heart. We can find out what is in our heart when we are put in pressing situations.  When a circumstance has you pressed up against the wall, what comes out?  The Word of God and positive confession or fear, doubt and anxiety?  If we are filling ourselves with the Word and God’s promises, then that is what will flow out.  Allow the Word of God to take root in your heart so it can manifest the life God desires for you!

Deuteronomy 4:29

Seek the Lord

“But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with.”

Declaration of Faith

I will seek the Lord with all my heart, soul and strength. I will let His Word take root in me so that I can be transformed into His image. I choose to let the Lord reveal to me any changes that still need to take place and delight in following His commands.

Fear the Lord

The blessed life springs from living and abiding in the fear of the Lord. It is our honor and respect for Him that releases an empowerment to prosper.  When we talk about “Fearing” the Lord, we don’t mean fear in the traditional sense as in, God is out to get you.  Fearing the Lord is reverencing and respecting Him as the creator of all things.

In today’s society, many kids are not taught respect for their elders, much less for God Almighty.  We can set an example for today’s youth by being respectful of others and of God.  By learning and teaching respect, we are on the road to the blessing.  How can we honor God?  By putting his Word first and meditating on His precepts.

Declaration of Faith

“I reverently fear the Lord. It is my desire to follow His commands and fulfill my purpose in this life. I honor Him in all I do by putting His Word first and meditating on His precepts.”

Look what the Lord has Done

The Lord has done miracles and awesome works in each of lives at one time or another.  We shouldn’t so quickly forget everything Jesus has done for us.  Of course, Salvation alone is reason to shout but each day we get up is a reason to celebrate.  Everyone has something to be grateful for, it is just a matter of getting the right perspective.  Don’t be so focused on the negative but purposely recall when the the Lord met a need or provided a way out of a bad situation.

Instead of focusing on the depressing newspaper headlines, lets take that same energy and focus on the Goodness of the Lord and make His promises the new headline in our life!

Take a look at some of the many testimonies that people have shared or share your own.

You Are Redeemed

Need some exciting news?  If you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the Bible refers you as being the “redeemed.”  To be redeemed simply means you are no longer in bondage to the curse of sin, sickness, or spiritual death.  Jesus paid the price for your sin so you can experience God’s promises!

There are many Christians not living in the fullness that God had intended for them.   God doesn’t want us living in fear, anxiety, poverty and lack.  And by lack, I don’t just mean finances.  We are to lack “no good thing.”  If you feel like you are lacking in joy, love or peace or even finances, dig into God’s Word and find out what God’s promises are and stand on them.

Just as a farmer expects a harvest after he has planted a seed, you can expect an abundant harvest after planting the seed of the Word of God into your heart.   How do you do that?  Just by studying it and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will gain understanding and it will build you up spiritually.  There are many who study the daily newspaper that usually leaves you feeling fearful and uncertain.  Take that same habit and study the Bible and instead of fear, you will be filled with faith and expectancy of God’s promises that no circumstance can alter.

Galations 3:13-14

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”

Declaration of Faith

I have been redeemed from the curse of sin, sickness and spiritual death.  I do not allow sin or sickness or any bondage that Jesus died to set me free from in my life.  By faith I receive the promise of the Spirit!
